    Katie Nix
    Soprano
    Hailed as "sensational" by the San Francisco Examiner, Katie Nix is a vibrant coloratura soprano whose broad repertoire ranges from Baroque chamber opera to contemporary musical theatre.
    
    Recent operatic roles include Lucano/Valletto in L'Incoronazione di Poppea, Zerlina in Don Giovanni with San Francisco's Waffle Opera, a partial performance of Donizetti's tragic herione Lucia di Lammermoor, Amy in Mark Adamo’s Little Women, Nella in Gianni Schicchi,  Antigona in Handel’s Admeto and First Lady in Die Zauberflöte. 
    
    An avid performer of new music, Katie has performed for three seasons with Thompson Street Opera (Louisville), originating roles in works by Chappell Kingsland, Hong-Da Chin, Eric Lindsay, and Ezra Donner. She also works with the company as a stage director, directing the world premiere of The Final Battle for Love, Philip Thompson's tale of professional wrestling. 
    
    Highlights of her theatrical roles include an applauded turn as Dot in Stephen Sondheim's Sunday in the Park with George with Foothill Music Theater. The SF Examiner lauded her "beautiful, well-controlled voice" and the San Jose Mercury News described the performance as "alluring" and "coquettish," praising her "outstanding acting and vocal talents." 2016 saw her Shakespearean debut as the tragic heroine Imogen in Cymbeline with San Francisco's Theater of Others, as well as an understudy engagement with the San Francisco Playhouse in Sarah Ruhl's Stage Kiss. 
    
    As a concert singer, she has appeared with the Tucson Masterworks Chorale, performing the soprano solos in Amy Beach's Service in A Major, and with San Francisco's Fête Concerts. 
    
    Katie holds a Master of Music degree from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Michigan. She has also trained at Songfest and New Music on the Point.
